Physical
Therapy, Rehabilitation and Sports MedicineThere is a modern Physical Therapy Center located at the main office site, and it is home to the finest sports medicine rehabilitation center in the area. Health Care Plans Accepted We are the preferred orthopaedic providers for Physician Health Network (PHN). We do welcome patients from all insurance plans. Please check with your insurance provider if there is a differential in coverage. Although most insurance providers in the Sheboygan area do not require that you see a primary care physician first to get a referral, we do suggest checking with your insurance plan provider to be sure. Please feel free to contact our billing office if you have questions. Pre-Surgery Preparation Unless your procedure is under local anesthesia, it will be necessary to obtain a preoperative physical from your family physician one week prior to the date of your surgery. This is required by the hospital. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery. This includes water, coffee, juice, tea, etc. It is best to come to the hospital in loose fitting clothes. You will need someone to drive you home. Check with your insurance company to see if you need a second opinion before surgery and if you need prior authorization or precertification before surgery. Post-Surgery Information You may be sent home with a pain medication prescription. It is advisable to start taking the medication soon after the surgery to stay ahead of the pain. The medicine will not eliminate the pain, but should take the edge off. It is also advised to apply ice to the area for 20-30 minutes several times a day for several days after your surgery. The operative extremity should be kept elevated above the level of your heart to control swelling when possible. There may be some mild bleeding on your bandage. This is normal, but if it seems excessive, or if there are any other concerns, please contact your physician. You will usually follow up with your physician within two weeks after your surgery in his office. If you have any questions, problems or concerns prior to your follow-up appointment, please call the nursing staff at 920-458-3791. After Hours Process If you have an urgent issue between 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., please call (920) 458-3791. Our answering service will assist you. If you have an emergency requiring immediate attention, please proceed to the emergency room at St. Nicholas Hospital. Additional Information SOA is a member of Physicians Health Network. We continue to accept new patients, provide emergency consultations, and strive to see non-emergent yet urgent cases within 24 hours. To
